Puppy and Kitten Care
There is no joy like adding a new puppy or kitten to your family, and when your new companion visits us for the first time, he or she becomes a part of our family, too. From your puppy or kitten’s very first visit with us, we will partner with you to help get him or her off to a healthy and productive start in life.
Your Pet’s First Visit
We recommend scheduling your pet’s first visit to a veterinarian at 6 weeks of age. The first days of your puppy or kitten’s life are not only very precious, but they are also some of the most vulnerable. Bringing your pet in for the first visit can help ensure he or she receives the necessary medical attention and preventive care.
On your pet’s first visit, you can expect that our veterinary team will work with you to develop a pet wellness plan that is based on your puppy or kitten’s specific needs, including age, breed, environment, and any pre-existing medical conditions.
In addition, your new pet will also receive:
A comprehensive physical examination
A vaccination plan, as well as the first series of vaccinations
Diagnostic testing for parasites and viruses
Heartworm prevention
Flea and tick prevention
Nutritional counseling

On your first visit, we also will be more than happy to discuss:
Microchipping your pet
Every year, thousands of pets are lost or stolen, with many never being found or returned. Having your puppy or kitten microchipped not only makes him or her easy to identify, but is also a painless and permanent way to improve his or her chances of being recovered.
Spaying or neutering your pet
Spaying or neutering is normally done between 4 and 6 months of age and is highly recommended to avoid a number of issues, such as behavioral problems, illnesses, and controlling the unwanted pet population.
